Mediterranean cuisine with a “bird’s-eye” view on St. Armands Circle.

One of the fun things to do in Sarasota’s St. Armands Circle is people watch.  St Armands Circle offers a variety of outdoor cafes and alfresco dining which only add to the people watching enjoyment.

Located on the 2nd floor in the heart of St. Armands is Terrace on the Circle.  A simple silver and red contemporary décor with glass fronted walls and an open aired terrace, Terrace on the Circle is the perfect spot to escape the hustle/ bustle of the sidewalk level yet still have the perfect view of all the happenings on the Circle.

Offering a casually oriented breakfast and lunch menu, Terrace on the Circle’s selections are extensive regardless of your meal of choice.  Even though there is an emphasis on Middle Eastern cuisine, there are many options available for all diners. We were having lunch and chose the following:

Greek Salad:  Fresh greens with feta cheese, tomato, Greek peppers, olives, onions and cucumber tossed with Greek dressing. $9.50
Crisp and fresh, nicely dressed served with fresh Syrian bread.
House Salad:  Lettuce, tomato, cucumber and onion with choice of dressings.  $5.00
A great value, big fresh salad, plenty of veggies.
Falafel:  Ground, fried chickpeas topped with tomato, parsley, mint, radish and tahini sauce.  $9.00
Nicely presented, long oval dish with cut-up pancake-shaped falafel.  Fresh veggies and tahini give it a more flavorful taste.
Kafta:  Grilled skewers of ground sirloin mixed with onion, parsley, and Lebanese spices.  $14.00
A tender and flavorful presentation; very satisfying.

Select meals are served with fresh Syrian bread.  There is a small beer and wine list to accompany your meal.  Even though it was busy, we found the service to be prompt, friendly, and attentive.

Although Terrace on the Circle’s location may not be obvious upon your first visit, it is located above Cha Cha Coconuts and Columbia Restaurant on St Armands Circle and worth seeking.  Nice views, open aired dining, good food, friendly staff and reasonable prices, who can ask for more?  Terrace on the Circle, an oasis on St. Armands Circle.
