Italian trattoria styled dining on the corner of Main and Palm.

When you are in the mood for some simple, good quality Italian food but want an informal, casual setting, Café Epicure is your “go to” place. With a huge selection of salads, pastas, specialty entrees, wood fired pizzas, sandwiches, and desserts, no palate will be disappointed. Since we were meeting friends later in the evening, we opted for a quick, early, simple dinner. Café Epicure was the perfect choice.

Upon arrival we were offered 3 different seating choices: “al fresco,” main dining room, or newly added back dining room. We chose the back which features marble topped tables, sleek hanging halogen lighting, an impressive backlit bar, flat screen TV’s, and a corner placed wood fired brick oven.  For this casual dining experience, any choice of dining location will work fine.

Since we needed some time to study the extensive menu, we ordered a bottle of wine from the well represented Italian varietal list. After some careful consideration, we ordered the following:

Insalata Fresca: Curly endive with fennel, corn, and radishes $8.75
Insalata Caprina: Boston lettuce, arugola, goat cheese, endive, walnuts, and olives $9.50
Funghi Pizza: Tomato, mozzarella, mushrooms $13.95
Linguine Integrali Primavera: Wholewheat linguine with fresh vegetables $13.95
Lasagna Bolognese: Homemade lasagna with meat sauce and bechamelle $14.50

All of the food was fresh and nicely presented. The lasagna was not the usual fare. It was rich, dense, simply presented, and very tasty; a dish we would order again.

If you are looking for a quick meal with quality food and speedy service, Café Epicure is the perfect choice.  Boun appetito!
