Something Old… is Something New, again!

Built in 1926 by Owen Burns and Registered with the National Registry of Historic buildings, this former residence and restaurant (Uva Rara) at 443 Burns Court, serves as the new locale for Galileo Ristorante. Formerly located on Stickney Point Road, this seven year old establishment moved to the Burns Court location this summer.

If there is one word used frequently to describe the Burns Court area, it is “charming.” Whether it is the walled in outdoor terraced patio with working fountain and overhead string lighting; or the romantic cozy comfort of the small indoor dining areas, this setting for Galileo is no exception. It is charming and the food is even better!

Our dinner consisted of the following:

Insalata Mista
Baby greens with ripe tomatoes, marinated cucumbers, Gorgonzola (we substituted goat cheese) and balsamic vinaigrette $4.50

Pesce San Pietro in Cartoccino
Sweet and mild fillet of John Dory roasted in parchment with gulf shrimp, fresh baby spinach, shaved fennel, navel oranges, and Sambuca. With a unique presentation and an outstanding mélange of flavor, this is definitely a Galileo signature dish. $21.95

Veal Parmigiana
This classic dish compromised of three tender medallions of lightly breaded, succulent veal, lightly covered with sauce and cheese served with a side of angel hair pasta. Need I say more? $21.95

There is a very nice wine list with a good representation of reasonably priced Italian varietals. We chose a Chianti which was out of stock but were offered an alternative which was actually priced less than the original bottle we ordered.

Adding to Galileo’s charm is the wait staff. We found the teams to be friendly, sincere, and always ready to assist. In fact we were discussing the John Dory dish as one of the wait staff (not ours mind you) walked by our table. Upon her return she stopped to explain the dish, the type of fish and to share her recommendation; quite impressive.  Later on in the evening, another wait person (not ours) checked in to make sure we enjoyed the wine and the meal. All of this in a cozy, casual, place.

We look forward to visiting Galileo’s again.
